The Custodial Team Leader plays a crucial role in supporting, assisting, and mentoring individuals with significant disabilities, empowering them to develop essential work skills and improve their communication abilities within a professional setting. By providing guidance and support, individuals will enhance their knowledge, skills, and interpersonal capabilities, paving the way for various opportunities, including career advancement within Didlake's organization.

This position is accountable for aiding the Janitorial Supervisor in the overall management, coordination, assessment, and oversight of cleaning teams responsible for maintaining the contract. The Custodial Team Leader dedicates 50% of their time to supporting the Janitorial Supervisor in executing plans and directives for janitorial tasks, while the remaining 50% is spent performing cleaning duties.
  • Maintains cleanliness in hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Utilizes brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines for floor maintenance.
  • Polishes metal fixtures and fittings.
  • Cleans windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Empties waste receptacles.
  • Restocks bathroom and floor supplies.
  • Demonstrates dependability, strong work ethics, and professional appearance.
  • Assigns tasks, distributes supplies and equipment to team members, and inspects completed work for compliance with standards.
  • Requests supplies and equipment from the Supervisor, APM, or PM.
  • Trains team members on assigned tasks and proper use of equipment and supplies.
  • Addresses employee and customer complaints and resolves issues, referring to the supervisor when necessary.
  • May assist general cleaning staff as needed.
  • Operates power equipment, including two-stage snow blowers.
  • During inclement weather, ensures proper maintenance by removing snow from walkways and entrances, and applying snow/ice melting chemicals as specified in the contract.
  • Completes and maintains all required training as per Didlake standards.
  • Fosters a positive team environment and ensures quality work.
  • Adheres to Didlake's policies and procedures regarding conduct and demeanor.
  • Follows safety standards and guidelines in the use of equipment and during other activities.

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience/education.
Skills and Abilities:
  • One (1) year of recent, relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance background check.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense and sound judgment in fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Ability to remind and retrain staff on standard operating procedures and safe equipment operation.
  • Effective and supportive interaction with individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to adjust to schedule changes and availability to work weekends as required.
  • Experience in floor care is preferred.
