Position Overview: The Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments (MOTA) is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator. This role is essential in fostering relationships between the community and various government agencies to address local issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Coordination: Establish and maintain collaborative efforts among city agencies to ensure the delivery of services that meet community needs.
  • Issue Response: Address critical community concerns and incidents in the assigned Ward, demonstrating flexibility in working hours.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data to identify priorities, develop actionable work plans, and resolve operational challenges.
  • Agency Collaboration: Facilitate communication between District and Federal agencies regarding cases that require their involvement.
  • Community Partnerships: Build and nurture relationships with local businesses, organizations, and residents to enhance service initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison to provide updates and progress reports to community stakeholders, including civic groups and tenant associations.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular progress reports to management and participate in relevant meetings and training.
  • Advisory Role: Serve as a resource for various committees in planning and executing joint initiatives.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement within the District of Columbia, particularly in one of the eight Wards.
  • Familiarity with the services provided by various partnering agencies, including community groups and non-profit organizations.
  • Knowledge of local organizations and the ability to establish connections to enhance service delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret policies and meet service requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse personalities.

Residency Requirement: Candidates must be District of Columbia residents at the time of appointment or become residents within a specified timeframe. Continued residency is required throughout the duration of employment.
