Melbourne, Florida, United States Schools (Government) Full time

Position Overview

This role does not require attendance during school holiday periods.

The position at Range 3 is characterized by increased management responsibilities and accountability for delivering professional support services. The impact of this role extends beyond the immediate work area or professional discipline, aiming to foster collaboration among staff members and the school community to achieve specific goals related to school administration, operations, or educational initiatives.

While guidance on objectives and targets is provided, the individual in this role will have some discretion in determining the methods to achieve these goals. This discretion is generally constrained by established procedures and school policies. Any deviations from these standards will necessitate guidance from senior management.

At Range 3, the responsibilities include business management duties. A key aspect of this role is the management of staff to ensure expected outcomes are met. Staff management issues should be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although assistance may be required in more complex situations. Senior management will receive timely reports and advice, typically limited to matters concerning the immediate work area, service delivery, or educational programs, and is unlikely to significantly affect overall school operations.

This position represents the minimum range for roles that require a mandatory qualification of at least four years. Professional support roles, such as therapists and psychologists, are also included at this level, where standard professional services are provided. Close professional support and guidance will be available, and any deviations from established procedures and school policies will require direction from senior management.

An education support class position aids in delivering educational services to students but must not engage in teaching duties as defined by the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students is not a requirement unless it is an integral part of the employee's role or involves overseeing students individually or in small groups under controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and instruct suitable musical repertoire for students
  • Design and lead small group ensemble sessions
  • Prepare and organize sheet music as necessary
  • Maintain musical instruments and report any required repairs
  • Attend student performances and college events
  • Participate in college meetings and IMT meetings as determined by the Head of Music
  • Assist in the preparation for college concerts and events
  • Utilize COMPASS to establish timetables and manage scheduling
  • Complete interim and end-of-semester reports for the college
  • Develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) as required

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with the necessary aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to meet the specific requirements of this position are encouraged to apply.

Commitment to EEO and OHS

Individuals seeking part-time roles are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and, if selected, may request a reduced time fraction. Such requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, subject to the operational needs of the school.
