About the Role

Clean Earth is seeking a highly skilled Waste Technician to join our team. As a Waste Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Permanent Household Hazardous Collection Facility (PHHWCF) and Temporary Household Hazardous Collection Facility (THHWCF).

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload hazardous waste from customers' vehicles and segregate wastes by hazard classification.
  • Use hazardous categorization test methods to characterize unknown waste and determine hazard classification.
  • Bulk liquid hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including used motor oil and antifreeze.
  • Packaging hazardous and non-hazardous waste for onsite storage and eventual transport for offsite disposal or recycling.
  • Label waste containers and complete inventories of wastes stored onsite.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to operate a powered industrial truck, such as a forklift, and possess a safe driving record.
  • Effectively use tools and equipment necessary to perform duties, including combustible gas indicators, hazard categorization instruments, and personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to wear company-provided personal protection equipment, including eye protection, steel-toed shoes, hard hat, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
  • Ability to move or lift 50 pounds.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and RCRA Regulations.
  • Basic chemistry knowledge.
