Position Title: Building Automation System Integrator

Position Overview

Compensation Range: $31.25- $43.25/hour - based on experience

Classification: Exempt / Non-Exempt

Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. - Sponsorship not available

General Summary:

The role involves the installation and programming of Direct Digital Controllers (DDC), commissioning, conducting point-to-point verification, troubleshooting, and validating DDC network communications for both new constructions and retrofits. The position requires collaboration in designing graphical displays within the constraints set by the System Development Team, Engineering, and Project Management. Responsibilities include inspecting and validating systems, assisting with panel construction, adhering to installation protocols as directed by site representatives, and performing system commissioning. The ability to interpret blueprints, building schematics, and DDC control drawings is essential. Participation in site meetings and providing daily updates to the Project Manager is also required.

UMC is a recognized distributor and installer of Distech products, utilizing the Tridium Niagara Platform with MS/TP and BACnet over IP protocols. Distech also produces a comprehensive range of LonWorks controllers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop databases for all supported systems to align with specified operational sequences and equipment manufacturer recommendations, adhering to company standards and control drawings.

2. Conduct calibration and verification of control systems, ensuring that operational sequences and commissioning criteria are fulfilled promptly.

3. Collaborate with the graphics coordinator to provide necessary labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces as required by project design and contractual obligations.

4. Offer customer support regarding building/system operations and maintenance of temperature control systems.

5. Provide constructive feedback to the Controls engineer to assist in creating as-built documentation.

6. Effectively manage time to ensure assignments are completed within deadlines and budget constraints.



Position Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications:


• Proficiency in DDC/System Programming.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Strong customer service orientation and relationship management abilities.


• In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.


• Familiarity with electronics and basic electrical circuits.


• Understanding of DDC Control Theory and Applications.


• Capability to collaborate with UMC teams, clients, engineers, and property managers.


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


• Proficiency in ACAD/Visio.

Experience and Credentials:


• 2 to 4 years of experience in the Building Automation sector.


• Background in HVAC and/or Mechanical systems.


• Training and certification in electrical theory and/or electronics.


• Experience with Tridium/Niagara and Distech products is preferred.


• Computer and networking skills are advantageous.

Supervisory Role:


• None

Licensing Requirements:


• Must maintain a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
