Position Overview

The Patient Admissions Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the registration process for direct inpatient and observation stays, as well as certain outpatient visits and Skilled Nursing admissions. This position involves the collection and documentation of essential physician and patient information, addressing inquiries, and supplying relevant hospital details to involved parties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary signatures related to patient visits are obtained.
  • Verify the patient's healthcare coverage and update demographic information as required.
  • Oversee the bed assignment process by informing the appropriate nursing unit upon patient arrival and facilitating patient transport to designated areas.
  • Pre-register transfers from Nursing Homes, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Assisted Living facilities, completing the admission process upon patient arrival.
  • Collect patient copayments and coinsurance at the time of registration, providing necessary documentation for deposits and fund postings.

Work Schedule

This position operates on a PRN (as needed) basis.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of six months of relevant experience in a similar role is necessary.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
  • Strong computer and communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other healthcare payer requirements is beneficial.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be capable of performing a full range of body motions, including walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds is required.
