About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Product Strategy to lead our Product Strategy team at Blue Shield of CA. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing transformative product strategies that drive short and long-term financial and membership growth across our lines of business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Product Strategies: Create comprehensive 3-year visions and strategies for our dental, vision, life, and other future potential specialty products to grow membership, improve member retention, increase profitability, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  2. Lead Product Management Teams: Oversee a team of Product Managers to execute on delivery of the product strategy, ensuring timely and effective product launches.
  3. Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification: Assess market trends, current product offerings, and customer needs to identify new product opportunities and develop business cases for senior leadership.
  4. Portfolio Management: Oversee the performance and management of our specialty products in market, including developing required scorecards and metrics, and setting operational goals and metrics for product development.
  5. Business Case Development: Develop business case/ROI analysis, feasibility, and price modeling to provide new product recommendations to senior leadership.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with key cross-functional leaders, including General Managers, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Vendor Management, Finance, and Actuary, to define product strategy initiatives.
  7. Strategy Socialization and Alignment: Effectively socialize strategy while gaining alignment and building consensus with leaders.
  8. Process Efficiency Identification: Partner with medical line of business teams to identify process efficiencies across products.
  9. Strategic Initiatives Participation: Participate in overall strategic initiatives for the Product organization as a Specialty subject matter expert to ensure Specialty requirements are captured in investment priorities.
  10. Product Evangelism: Serve as a product evangelist, infusing innovation and communicating the value proposition of our products and strategy.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience: At least 10 years prior relevant experience, including 4 years of management experience.
  3. Product Management Experience: Requires product management experience, especially in an Agile environment involving close collaboration with customer experience designers.
  4. Short- and Long-Term Product Roadmaps: Requires experience managing short- and long-term product roadmaps.
  5. Financial and Analytical Skills: Strong financial and analytical skills required.
  6. Health Plan Insurance Experience: Health plan insurance experience strongly preferred.
  7. Management Consulting Experience: Management consulting or equivalent experience highly desirable.
  8. Communication and Program/Project Management Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication and program/project management skills, including an ability to communicate effectively and present information clearly and concisely at an executive level.
  9. Influence, Relationship Management, and Engagement Skills: Excellent influence, relationship management, and engagement skills in building alignment and accountability without formal ownership or authority over talent resources within all levels of the organization.
  10. Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
