Job Title: Lecturer in Development Engineering

We are seeking a highly qualified Lecturer in Development Engineering to join our team at the Blum Center for Developing Economies at the University of California, Berkeley. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in Development Engineering, including core classes and new classes based on student interest and candidate expertise.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses in Development Engineering, including core classes and new classes based on student interest and candidate expertise.
  • Develop and implement new and innovative methods of delivering education and hands-on learning, project-based learning, and experience working with students from a range of disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development of the curriculum and syllabus for Development Engineering courses.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Work with potential sponsors for project-based courses.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or equivalent international degree in a discipline associated with Development Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of industry or nonprofit organization experience.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent international degree or graduate professional degree in a discipline associated with Development Engineering is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in two or more of the topic areas listed below is preferred.

  • Community-based teaching, research, project-implementation.
  • Innovation studies / theory of change.

  • Multidisciplinary project-based courses that engage students in experiential learning to help to solve real-world problems.
