The Role

FPA is on the lookout for a full-time CADD Manager to lead our Computer-Aided Design and Drafting initiatives from our headquarters. This pivotal role involves overseeing our CAD operations and reporting directly to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and enhance FPA's CAD operations, establishing drafting standards, developing a comprehensive details library, and evaluating hardware/software/network needs.
  • Implement procedures that incorporate the latest industry standards, equipping designers and engineers with essential skills.
  • Establish and uphold CADD standards that comply with the requirements of various agencies within our client base.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to produce high-quality drawings and ensure rigorous CAD quality assurance processes.
  • Design and execute training programs for interns, new hires, and existing staff to enhance CAD proficiency.
  • Maintain industry-leading CADD standards for clients, including state transportation departments.
  • Oversee the procurement and management of CAD software licenses, ensuring optimal utilization.
  • Expertly navigate geospatial data, interpreting aerial imagery and GIS topography to support engineering projects.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for engineering design and CADD software, maintaining a log of common issues.
  • Review CADD drawings for compliance with established standards and requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for end-users requiring assistance with software and project workflows.
  • Work closely with project managers to assign CADD standards to projects, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Develop and reinforce CADD standards across the organization, ensuring project success.
  • Utilize advanced design technologies, including Autodesk, Revit, Civil 3D, and Microstation.
  • Advise management on program implementation and technological advancements.
  • Share expertise across departments to ensure cohesive engineering and design support.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in CADD management within consulting engineering or architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MicroStation.
  • Strong leadership and training capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering principles and DOT standards.
  • Excellent communication and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management abilities.
