Work Environment

This position is based in the Chicagoland area, offering a hybrid work model where employees work remotely on designated days and are required to be on-site during the midweek.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess new and emerging technologies by analyzing energy savings, carbon footprint, lifecycle costs, and additional benefits, particularly in commercial settings, distributed energy generation, and microgrid solutions.
  • Oversee analytical, experimental, and field demonstration projects, managing budgets, timelines, and deliverables while coordinating with project stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Lead project teams in developing field testing protocols, designing, and implementing instrumentation and data collection systems to measure performance.
  • Utilize software tools for data analysis, result summarization, and reporting findings.
  • Prepare technical documentation, research reports, and publications to meet project reporting requirements and effectively communicate technical insights to stakeholders.
  • Generate new project concepts and proposals.
  • Travel as needed to engage in field visits, pilot projects, and industry conferences.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundational knowledge of thermodynamics and energy generation.
  • Experience in laboratory research within industry or academia.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in laboratory and field environments.
  • Self-motivated individuals who can work independently and collaboratively.
  • Active participation in professional organizations and standards is advantageous.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific field with over 10 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Licensed Professional Engineer, CEM, PMP) are beneficial.
  • Experience in supervisory roles, particularly in research or engineering contexts, is a plus.
  • Experience in identifying new technical or business opportunities is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, control systems, and programming is a plus.
