Job Summary

The Cornell Cooperative Extension is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HR Coordinator to provide administrative support and management for assigned local HR responsibilities. This role is responsible for coordinating various HR functions, including hiring processes, employee background checks, onboarding new hires, payroll and benefits functions, maintenance of personnel records and data, and staff trainings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Director in developing Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Manage the payroll function and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Provide guidance to staff and supervisors on HR procedures and processes.
  • Coordinate and provide onboarding for new hires, including ensuring completion of Form I-9, providing general office orientation, and payroll and benefits information.
  • Update legal postings as appropriate and implement Human Resources best practices.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent education.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain knowledge of Human Resources procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize technology to accomplish position responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior knowledge of HR and payroll processes.
Work Environment

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position. Compensation paid at the rate of $22.28 per hour. Excellent benefits, based on eligibility, including vacation, sick and personal time, paid holidays, NYS Health Insurance Program, NYS Retirement, long-term disability insurance, and more.
