We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory procedures, including hematology, blood bank, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, microbiology, and immunology.
Responsibilities- Perform waived, moderate, and highly complex tests in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures in documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and correct the issue or notify a supervisor.
- Perform maintenance on instruments and equipment as needed.
- Review patient results prior to releasing or reporting.
- Recognize age-specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
- May be required to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- May be assigned responsibilities related to laboratory information systems (LIS) and point-of-care (POC) testing.
- Requires two years of clinical laboratory work experience that cover all areas of a clinical laboratory.
- Bachelor's Degree in biological science, chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid California State License.
