The Shoreline Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit is a specialized 36-bed facility focused on cardiac care for individuals recovering from major heart surgeries. Our unit caters to cardiovascular and thoracic patients post CABG, heart catheterizations, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and various other cardiothoracic surgical interventions. Additionally, we manage general medical-surgical patients with primary cardiac concerns or histories requiring telemetry monitoring, including those needing critical cardiac medications or Aquadex therapy. On our unit, we prioritize early detection of medical issues, enabling our staff to respond swiftly and effectively to urgent situations. We provide numerous opportunities for patient assessments, family education, IV administration, wound care, lab analysis, and medication management. Our nurse-to-patient ratio averages between 1:3 to 1:6, depending on patient needs. A notable aspect of our unit is that we operate within a heart hospital, ensuring high demand for our beds, which are typically occupied, and our staff experiences minimal cancellations. We offer flexible scheduling options and foster a collaborative team environment. Our culture encourages open communication and teamwork, creating a fulfilling atmosphere for both healthcare professionals and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Responds to patient inquiries and assists with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
• Aids in feeding patients and accurately records their food and fluid intake.
• Monitors and documents vital signs, including temperature and blood pressure, and communicates any changes to nursing staff or physicians.
• Supports nursing and medical staff during procedures and assists with wound care.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
B. Experience
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
C. Certifications
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
Work Schedule:
12-hour shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM.
