Position Overview

Summary

The Heart of Brooklyn Childcare Center is seeking a dedicated Lead Educator for our School Age Program. This role is essential in managing the daily operations of our program, ensuring a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. The Lead Educator will play a crucial role in fostering children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, creating an engaging atmosphere where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Model effective teaching practices and support the success of the teaching team through mentorship.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate activities that promote active engagement and developmental growth.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents to discuss children's progress and address any concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all center policies and state regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of a clean and safe classroom environment, prioritizing hygiene and security.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development to enhance quality of care and education.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • High energy and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, children, and families.
  • In-depth knowledge of child development principles.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification; support for obtaining certification will be provided.
  • Successful completion of a background check and health screening is required.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to walk frequently, manipulate objects, and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must meet the qualifications for Directorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Opportunities for early education training provided and funded if not already completed.
  • CPR certification covered if not currently held.
  • Completion of a school age course is available and funded if not already completed.
  • Additional early education coursework is a plus.
