We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Support Coordinator to join our team at Spectrum Health. This role will be responsible for coordinating activities in the laboratory support areas, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate all support area needs for the laboratory, including Laboratory Service Representatives functions.
- Role model and act as a resource to others related to duties of assigned support area.
- Establish service priorities, work routines, and workflow patterns to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of services.
- Communicate and collaborate with support staff, management, and healthcare teams to facilitate continuity and coordination of services.
- Facilitate quality monitoring activities of support staff.
- Coordinate all scheduling, including payroll editing.
- Provide technical explanations and interpretations to customers as needed, and serve as a resource for specimen collection and handling questions.
- Prepare specimens for reference laboratory testing according to laboratory protocol and Federal shipping guidelines.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- 3 years of relevant experience in laboratory support services, customer service, or a related field required.
- Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology certification preferred.
- Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy Technician - NHA National Health career Association certification preferred.
This role will be based at our Big Rapids Hospital location, working in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The successful candidate will be required to work a standard 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, with no weekend work.
