KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Evaluations: Utilize appropriate assessment and intervention techniques that are age-specific in all interactions and nursing care delivery. Evaluate patients' physical and psycho-social conditions. Analyze relevant information. Integrate assessment findings into care planning, objectives, and outcomes. Ensure therapeutic interventions are based on ongoing assessments, prescribed orders, and input from other healthcare providers. Provide adequate pain management, manage IV therapy, and administer medications according to established protocols. Ensure safety and protection for patients, colleagues, and self.

Effective Communication: Engage with patients, colleagues, providers, and management in an accurate, respectful, and timely manner. Apply patient-specific communication skills that are culturally sensitive and appropriate for different age groups. Address language barriers and accommodate sensory and cognitive deficits. Provide pertinent and concise reports using SBAR. Document thoroughly, promptly, and clearly.

Critical Thinking: Employ analytical skills to achieve desired outcomes and resolve issues. Operate within the limits of experience and capability. Gather and integrate data from multiple sources and seek assistance or information as needed. Critically analyze data to support clinical decision-making. Demonstrate problem-solving abilities and a commitment to evidence-based practices.

Building Caring Relationships: Foster caring relationships that consider the human experience of health, illness, and healing. Promote relationship-based care with patients, their families, and colleagues to create a nurturing and healing environment where patients and their families are central to the care process. Initiate non-task-related introductions, engage at eye level when possible, use appropriate touch, keep patients and families informed, involve them in decision-making, anticipate needs, respond to concerns promptly, and conduct frequent rounds when applicable. Uphold patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. Advocate for patients and families, including obtaining advanced directives when necessary. Expedite discharges in accordance with guidelines.

Time Management: Effectively manage personal work and material resources. Deliver organized care by prioritizing needs and tasks efficiently. Adapt positively to changes in patient conditions, assignments, and expectations. Maintain a clean and orderly care environment.

Leadership Skills: Demonstrate leadership abilities consistent with role and experience. Delegate and assign care that aligns with role, scope of practice, and the capabilities of team members. Provide constructive feedback relevant to the situation and offer educational opportunities for colleagues. Coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team. Manage conflicts effectively and competently. Actively engage in professional practice by participating in committees, councils, policy development, or professional organizations.

Educational Role: Integrate teaching into care delivery to promote health and prevent illness. Provide tailored information to patients and families, considering individual needs. Assess for learning barriers and motivation. Educate patients and families on safely taking and monitoring medication effects. Prepare patients and families for prescribed treatments, procedures, or discharges. Consult with the multidisciplinary team as appropriate to enhance patient and family education. Offer counseling for health-related behaviors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing who will complete their BSN within four years of hire will be considered.

Salary Range: $34 - $53.81
Pay Grade: N10
Compensation may vary based on overall experience and qualifications, shift, and location.
