Job Summary

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a highly skilled Patient Navigator to support the Comadre a Comadre (CAC) program. As a key member of our team, you will provide patient navigation and follow-up for individuals who self-refer or are referred needing assistance with cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment medical appointments, low-cost or free screening mammograms, pap tests, cancer services, and access to a primary care physician or community clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient navigation and follow-up for individuals who self-refer or are referred needing assistance with cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment medical appointments, low-cost or free screening mammograms, pap tests, cancer services, and access to a primary care physician or community clinic.
  • Assist patients by navigating individuals to internal resources provided by the Program and external community or social agencies or community resources.
  • Help patients navigate access and address barriers to care, serving as an advocate for patients.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English is preferred.
  • Previous experience or knowledge in navigating cancer or breast cancer patients is preferred.
  • Experience in working with the Hispanic/Latinx community is preferred.
