Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead our team of design engineers and CAD designers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in product design and manufacturing, with experience in leading teams and communicating effectively with production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design engineering team to meet customer expectations and communicate requirements clearly to production.
  • Define and improve efficient engineering processes to optimize productivity and quality.
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams to develop best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage change while safeguarding minimal disruption.
  • Put quality controls in place to ensure accuracy, compliance with standards, and adherence to project commitments.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for the use of engineering software packages.
  • Provide guidance on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) during engineering and layout phase.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges promptly.
  • Acquire and manage technical resources.
  • Identify needs and support recruiting and hiring of resources.
  • Hire, terminate, promote, and provide performance intervention.
  • Deliver performance feedback, discuss compensation management, professional development, training, and ensure the general well-being of resources.
  • Manage succession planning.

Anderson Dahlen is a leading provider of metal fabrication and equipment integration services to various industries, including food processing, industrial, pharmaceutical, and vacuum technology. We offer contract manufacturing, engineering support, and design-build capabilities for custom projects.

Requirements
  • BS degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, Process Design, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing as a leader or supervisor of people or teams.
  • Solid experience with product design and manufacturing in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Experience with code welding (ASME, PED, and AWS) strongly preferred.
  • 3D CAD required (preferably Solid Works).
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FEA calculations preferred.
  • Experience with customer interaction and working under time constraints a definite plus.
  • Experience with software/controls engineering and system design principles a plus.
  • Professional work experience reviewing and analyzing prototypes and product modifications preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Detail-oriented with planning and monitoring skills.
  • Must exhibit leadership and sound decision-making qualities.
  • Excellent internal communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid teamwork and organizational skills including attention to detail, problem solving, and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work independently, proven efficient time management and organizational skills.
  • Displays a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
Physical Requirements

The company fosters a manufacturing type environment. This position will primarily involve operating a computer at a desk in an office environment.
