Job Title: Design Engineering Manager

Anderson Dahlen is seeking a highly skilled Design Engineering Manager to lead our team of design engineers and CAD designers. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our designs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of design engineers and CAD designers to deliver high-quality designs on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement efficient engineering processes to optimize productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop best practices, policies, and procedures to meet the goals of the department, company, and projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for the use of all engineering software packages, including SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, and ASME pressure Vessel calculations.
  • Ensure that all designs meet the required standards, including ASME, PED, and AWS.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and other relevant documents.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth transition of designs from engineering to production.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure that design engineers and CAD designers have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, Process Design, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing as a leader or supervisor of people or teams.
  • Strong experience with product design and manufacturing in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Experience with code welding (ASME, PED, and AWS) strongly preferred.
  • 3D CAD required (preferably Solid Works).
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FEA calculations preferred.
  • Excellent internal communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid teamwork and organizational skills including attention to detail, problem solving and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work independently, proven efficient time management and organizational skills.
  • Displays a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
