We are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Engineer for Public Health to join our team. As a key member of our public health software development team, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications to support the mission of the CDC Foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications in collaboration with project teams.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using various programming languages and development frameworks.
- Participate in the design and architecture of software solutions to meet the public health agency's project requirements and scalability needs.
- Identify and implement best practices for software development, including coding standards, code reviews, and testing methodologies.
- Conduct thorough testing of software applications to identify and resolve bugs, performance issues, and other software defects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience. Six years of experience in web application development including versioning and revision control practices preferred.
- Prior experience or knowledge of data engineering languages/processes/frameworks a plus.
- Experience and proficiency in programming languages such as PHP, JavaScript, Python.
- Experience with software development frameworks and libraries (e.g., Laravel, Node.js).
- Experience with AWS tools and DevOps functions.
- Experience and proficiency in web development, relational databases, and using Unix-like operating systems.
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL,) and version control tools (e.g., Git).
