About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fluids Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will play a critical role in developing the fluid systems for our Blue Moon lander product lines.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop fluid systems, including specifications and procurement of components, CAD design, and analysis of test data.
  • Interpret and generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Design and/or create specifications for fluid/gas components, such as solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation.
  • Develop and maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other vehicle subsystems.
  • Design and analyze custom components for fluid, thermal, and structural applications.
  • Perform component verification of internally and externally sourced components to company standards.
  • Coordinate with other subsystem teams to ensure operability and fitment.
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion and fluid systems.
  • Experience in 3D CAD programs, drawing creation, piping applications, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred).
  • Experience performing flow and pressure calculations, as well as structural and thermal analysis of fluid systems.
  • Experience handling large assemblies in CAD.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability for various manufacturing methods (CNC machining, cold forming, welding, additive manufacturing).
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of teamwork and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • Experience with hydrogen and oxygen systems.
  • Experience qualifying components and systems for air or space flight.
  • Experience with Creo, Creo Piping, and Windchill.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
What We Offer

Blue Origin offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $102,383-$143,335 for on-site CO applicants, $111,690-$156,366 for on-site WA applicants, and $111,690-$156,366 for on-site CA applicants. Other site ranges may differ. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
