Position Overview:

Summary: At Burns & Wilcox, we specialize in providing insurance solutions for the distinctive and unconventional. We are seeking a motivated Personal Lines Underwriter who possesses an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire for professional growth. This role presents a remarkable opportunity to expand a portfolio by identifying and securing new business through the development of client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, sustain, and enhance a portfolio of business.
  • Oversee agency partnerships and act as the primary client liaison.
  • Design and implement marketing strategies to boost both new and renewal business.
  • Evaluate, quote, and finalize each risk to assess acceptability, coverage, and pricing for both large or intricate renewals and new business.
  • Prepare and submit underwriting referrals to the company's brokerage facilities and management.
  • Track essential metrics to devise corrective actions that influence new business acquisition, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratios.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop Associate Underwriters.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting is required; experience in excess and surplus lines is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in sales and marketing.
  • Possession of an insurance license, along with CPCU, CIC, or similar designations is preferred.
  • A commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to strengthen client relationships.
