Rental Shop Technician-Intermediate Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Rental Shop Technician-Intermediate to join our team at Carter Machinery Company. As a key member of our rental shop team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment and work tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques to determine repair procedures and diagnose basic repairs.
  • Perform light mechanical repairs, inspect returned equipment and attachments for repairs or maintenance, and clean returned equipment.
  • Assemble and repair work tools in a shop environment.
  • Work well in a team environment and possess the ability to interact positively with coworkers.
  • Use tools and equipment correctly and safely.
  • Perform work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Prepare required documentation, including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.
  • Follow company safety rules and policies.
  • Occasionally operate heavy machinery in a safe manner.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision; self-directed and organized.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact positively with coworkers.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment correctly and safely.
  • Ability to perform work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ability to prepare required documentation, including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
