Position Overview

AMS Staffing, Inc. is seeking a qualified Business Intake Conflicts Counsel to join our esteemed legal team. This role is pivotal in upholding the firm's commitment to ethical practices and compliance with conflict of interest regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the firm's client intake process, ensuring a meticulous and effective assessment of prospective clients and cases.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of potential conflicts of interest for new business opportunities using both internal and external resources.
  • Draft and implement necessary conflict waivers and ethical barriers to mitigate potential conflicts.
  • Advise legal professionals and staff on ethical responsibilities and adherence to professional conduct standards, promoting a culture of ethical compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to attorneys and staff regarding the firm's conflict management and client intake protocols.
  • Participate in the after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation for urgent conflict inquiries.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to foster effective collaboration.
  • Utilize firm resources judiciously and adhere to operational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of professional responsibility regulations and sound ethical judgment.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, and communication abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven capability to manage intricate information and make timely, informed decisions.
  • Strong collaborative skills, thriving in a team-oriented setting.
  • Proficiency in PC and Windows applications, with an eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal software (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to adapt to new systems.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive issues with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to the Bar, preferably in New York.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in conflict management or ethical compliance within a large law firm environment, ideally within an AM Law 50 firm.
