Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Intake Specialist to join its team in the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). As a key member of the General Counsel Division, this individual will be responsible for answering consumer hotline calls, processing complaints, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate with consumers and businesses to resolve complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Analyze and document consumer complaints, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain agency databases and provide reports as needed
  • Perform data entry and input detailed notes into agency systems
  • Provide follow-up and closure for each consumer complaint
  • Answer calls and direct callers to appropriate channels
  • Deliver accurate and complete information to callers
  • Process mail within assigned timeframes
  • Provide front desk reception coverage and assist walk-in consumers
  • Prepare training materials and maintain knowledge database
Qualifications

A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent is required, along with one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute is also necessary.
