Position OverviewThe Bulk Account Sales Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the POD Model within the One Tier Sales Strategy in a flexible, 24/7 operational environment. This position is essential due to the transition of Dollar General and certain independent grocery stores from Small Store to Large Store channels. The Bulk Account Sales Specialist will provide coverage for the Bulk Account Sales Representative and Merchandiser, may serve as the primary contact for late evening/early morning weekends to ensure adequate route coverage, and act as a liaison among the customer, merchandiser, and driver regarding order refusals and inventory excess. The Specialist may implement weekend operational strategies with minimal influence on adjustments to the overall plan. The Specialist will keep the District Sales Manager informed as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Stocks, displays, and rotates products on shelves and displays according to established procedures and special initiatives. Provides coverage for the Bulk Account Sales Representative and POD Merchandiser.
- Manages, sells, and executes tasks for a designated group of clients on daily, pre-scheduled routes, generating sales orders based on the assigned delivery frequency for each client to ensure daily operational success and directly contribute to the company's financial performance in terms of revenue, volume, and gross profit.
- Implements relevant promotions and new products based on target lists, monthly Look of Success (LOS) initiatives, marketing promotions, Point-Of-Sale, and commercial strategies to ensure excellence in Right Execution Daily (RED) scores for assigned clients.
- Organizes and maintains storage areas by stacking and arranging products by package and flavor, coordinating the return of empty pallets and shells, as well as damaged and expired products to the branch.
- Creates and distributes point-of-sale materials on displays and shelves where permitted. Rotates products and manages Fastlane displays and vendors; verifies vendor operations for proper functionality.
- Builds and maintains business relationships with store personnel through regular follow-ups on requests, proactive pricing, special programs, new opportunities, and discussions on upcoming activities.
- Identifies and communicates any competitive issues or market activities that could affect the business (e.g., pricing, new packaging, changes in business strategy) and executes all job responsibilities in a safe manner.
- May serve as the primary contact for late evening/early morning weekends to ensure proper route coverage, acting as a liaison among the customer, merchandiser, and driver regarding order refusals and inventory excess.
