Central Energy Plant Operations Manager

Amherst College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Central Energy Plant Supervisor to oversee the operation and maintenance of our campus energy plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant, including maintenance, repair, and planning of all associated equipment and controls.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and supervise the Central Energy Plant operations, including maintenance, repair, and planning of all associated equipment and controls.
- Participate in energy procurement and fuel switching/arbitrage strategies to optimize energy costs.
- Collaborate with other trades and services, including the chiller plant and utility distribution, to ensure seamless operation of the campus energy system.
- Train and supervise staff, approve projects, and select contractors to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and manage the Central Energy Plant budget, purchase and maintain inventory control of all associated materials and supplies.
- 5-7 years of experience overseeing similar power plant operations.
- A Massachusetts 2nd Class Stationary Engineers License.
- Associate's degree plus 5 years of experience overseeing similar power plant operations or in lieu of a degree 7+ years of experience.
- An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and lift test.
- Bachelor's degree and/or 10 years of power plant operation and management experience.
- 10+ years of power plant operation and management experience.
