The Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a skilled Purchasing Director to lead the procurement efforts for a construction firm client in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing and estimating, with a focus on single-family residential projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute project-specific or annual bidding processes, ensuring compliance with cost codes.
  • Develop subdivision bid comparison spreadsheets and bid books, per project.
  • Verify accuracy on Turnkey bids by performing unit pricing takeoffs and comparisons, per responsible cost types.
  • Establish material estimates and budgets.
  • Manage invoicing, including escalated invoices and cost management related to customer options and budget changes.
  • Maintain the bidding process system and standardize contracts.
  • Assemble and maintain standardized bid documents and scopes of work.
  • Manage the Commodity database and price comparisons.
  • Facilitate Quarterly SFR Purchasing Meetings.
  • Assist in developing initial house plans per project.
  • Lead Purchasing Agents/Managers in developing the SFR Training Program for Purchasing.
  • Collaborate with the RVP/VP in specification and standardization practices for the SFR Platform for Purchasing.
  • Support the RVP/VP and National Director of Purchasing in implementing new National Contract Programs.
  • Assist with Software troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, civil engineering, or a related business study.
  • Five years' experience in purchasing and estimating for single-family residential projects.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of construction practices and procedures, scheduling, and safety standards and programs.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, takeoff and estimating software, and scheduling programs.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and personnel management/oversight skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.

Travel Requirements:

Primarily local during the business day, with some out-of-the-area and overnight travel expected.
