Position Overview

The Head of Marketing and Communications at the College of Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for steering the creation, implementation, and evaluation of a holistic marketing and communications strategy for the college. This role involves working in partnership with various departments to ensure that the college's initiatives are in harmony with the overarching goals and objectives of the university, showcasing the college's core values and distinctive characteristics that contribute to the mission of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulating and assessing a strategic marketing and communications framework
  • Producing high-caliber content for both digital and print media
  • Overseeing all marketing and communications endeavors within the college
  • Employing metrics to evaluate strategies and improve overall effectiveness
  • Collaborating with diverse teams and ensuring the quality of content
  • Managing public relations initiatives

Essential Qualifications

A Master's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related discipline OR a Bachelor's degree accompanied by substantial experience. Proven track record in communications, marketing, or similar fields. Strong understanding of communication principles, leadership capabilities, and the ability to navigate a multifaceted environment. Experience in designing and executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies.

Desirable Qualifications

An advanced degree in communications or journalism, experience in a supervisory role, knowledge of environmental issues, marketing proficiency, and experience with budget management. Background in educational or nonprofit sectors and robust technological skills are preferred.
