Job Overview

Marcum Search is currently supporting a client in their quest for a Cost Accounting Specialist.

Role Summary

The Cost Accounting Specialist will collaborate with finance, production, and management teams to deliver precise and timely financial reporting and operational analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and structure cost data into a comprehensive expense database.
  • Calculate and analyze fixed and variable cost formulas.
  • Offer financial insights to both local and corporate management through detailed expense, production, and variance reports.
  • Develop cost projections for monthly, quarterly, or annual operational plans.
  • Examine month-end and year-end financial reports, recommending cost-effective strategies for improvement.
  • Safeguard operations by maintaining confidentiality of financial information and strategic plans.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency in accounting software applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, along with basic data entry and calculations.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong focus on organization and detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple tasks and achieve results in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of activity-based costing for fixed and variable costs related to overall product line costs.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a cost accounting, analyst, or similar role.
