Custodial Services Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary objective of this role is to execute the daily responsibilities of the Custodial Services Department, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as directives from management, to ensure that the facility is kept in a pristine, secure, and welcoming condition.

AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:
As a Custodial Services Specialist, you are entrusted with the authority and accountability necessary to fulfill your designated tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS:

Risk Exposure Levels:
Category I: Involves tasks with potential exposure to hazardous materials, necessitating personal protective equipment.

Category II: Involves tasks with minimal exposure to hazardous materials, but may require unplanned Category I tasks.

Category III:

Involves tasks with no exposure to hazardous materials, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
Ensure adherence to cleaning schedules.
Report all incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity.

PERSONNEL FUNCTIONS:
Attend departmental meetings as required.
Complete assigned tasks in accordance with daily work plans.
Address grievances with your supervisor.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
Participate in departmental studies and projects as needed.
Engage in training programs and educational classes as scheduled.

Attend annual training sessions on safety and health standards.

SAFETY AND SANITATION:
Adhere to established safety protocols.
Utilize safety equipment when handling heavy objects.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned areas.
Ensure proper chemical handling and disposal practices are followed.
Report any hazardous conditions to your supervisor.
Participate in training for tasks involving potential exposure to hazardous materials.
Follow established handwashing and sanitation procedures.
Coordinate with nursing services for isolation cleaning when necessary.

EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY MANAGEMENT:
Maintain adequate supplies for daily tasks.
Notify supervisor of supply shortages.
Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and supply areas.

CLEANING SERVICES:
Perform daily cleaning tasks as assigned.
Ensure that all areas, including resident rooms and common spaces, are cleaned and sanitized.
Handle waste disposal in accordance with sanitation procedures.
Maintain cleanliness of hallways, stairways, and other common areas.
Follow infection control procedures when necessary.

RESIDENT INTERACTIONS:
Respect resident privacy and property.
Communicate with residents in a courteous manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Engage in various tasks throughout the facility.
Be prepared for frequent interruptions and adapt cleaning schedules as needed.
Interact with residents, staff, and visitors under various circumstances.
Participate in ongoing educational programs.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of an 8th-grade education is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age or possess a valid work permit.

EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to understand and communicate in English.
Must be able to work effectively with diverse individuals and maintain a positive attitude.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Must meet health requirements set by facility policies.
Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to twenty-five pounds.
May be required to assist in emergency evacuations.
