About the Role

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our diagnostic imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Positioning and Image Critique
    • Position patients for all exams, ensuring accurate and safe imaging procedures.
    • Perform problem-solving to address physical limitations of patients during positioning.
    • Review images to determine if additional views are necessary to complete the exam.
    • Select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process.
    • Identify artifacts on images and assist in problem-solving.
    • Minimize repeat work and ensure annual competencies are met.
    • Position patients for DXA scans according to protocol and analyze exams appropriately.
  • Equipment Operation and Safety
    • Operate equipment competently and modify technical factors as needed.
    • Perform start-up and shut-down procedures on all equipment.
    • Ensure images are labeled and marked correctly.
    • Inspect equipment daily and report malfunctions to leaders.
    • Perform problem-solving as situations warrant, including equipment malfunctions and physical limitations.
    • Handle equipment with care and perform system backups weekly.
    • Send key images to PACS for c-arm cases.
  • Patient Care
    • Ensure the welfare and care of patients under your control, implementing immobilization devices as necessary.
    • Secure patient history and record it on the appropriate form for radiologists.
    • Perform c-arm and portable exams in the ASC and Pain Clinic, prioritizing patient care.
    • Document Pain Clinic and ASC cases as required.
  • PACS, EMR, and Software
    • Arrive, begin, and end studies in the EMR efficiently.
    • Utilize the Modality Worklist or select patients in Modality to acquire and send images to PACS.
    • Log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate study.
    • Perform QC processes for images in PACS.
    • Select the correct buttons for prior exams and availability.
    • Determine if pertinent priors are available in PACS.
    • Ensure the image link is available and working in the EMR.
    • Notify PACS Admin or Assistant of any issues not resolved.
    • Perform general troubleshooting, including splitting and merging studies and changing accession numbers.
    • Use IPAD interpretation services effectively.
  • Professional Development
    • Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
    • Maintain required CME credits.
    • Maintain current ARRT certification/registration and IEMA licensure.
    • Participate in problem-solving to improve department quality.
    • Maintain CPR certification.
    • Provide direction and instruction to new staff, students, and staff in need of assistance.
    • Contribute to department performance goals.
    • Obtain DXA certification by ARRT within two years of hire.
    • Complete required classes in ATMS.
  • Other Duties
    • Stock rooms as needed.
    • Assist others as needed.
    • Participate in patient education.
    • Participate in QC/QA testing and notify supervisors of exceeded boundaries.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school/program of Radiologic Technology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous outpatient service experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programs.
  • ARRT and CPR certification within three months.
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
