Position SummaryThe Parking Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and operational excellence of the parking facilities at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. This position involves various maintenance responsibilities and direct interaction with customers. While prior experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory for all roles. The individual must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Additional responsibilities may include equipment servicing and general upkeep tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Execute all cleaning and maintenance tasks as outlined in checklists and as directed by the facility manager/supervisor to ensure the removal of dirt, dust, litter, and debris from all facility areas using appropriate tools.
- Conduct daily inspections of the garage to identify and address maintenance issues.
- Maintain cleanliness around entrances, exits, and stairwells, including surface area rails on all levels.
- Perform painting duties as instructed by the facility manager/supervisor to ensure all painted surfaces are well-maintained and visually appealing.
- Replace burnt-out light bulbs as necessary.
- Apply oil absorbent materials to spills as needed.
- Submit requests for repairs or maintenance in a timely manner.
- Inspect safety items, such as gate arms, to ensure they are secure and functioning properly.
- Record ticket counts and gate activity for management.
- Maintain a log of garage/lot cleaning activities.
- Operate cleaning equipment, including automatic sweepers and scrubbers, as well as outdoor tools like lawnmowers and weed eaters.
- Clear snow from designated areas using shovels and snow blowers as directed by the Facility Manager.
- Report any observed violations of company policy, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences to the Facility Manager promptly.
- Assist customers within the facility as directed by the Facility Manager/Supervisor.
- Address customer complaints effectively, either independently or with supervisory support.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform standards during scheduled shifts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Facility maintenance, electrical, or painting experience may be required based on specific job assignments.
License Requirement: A valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Availability: Shift requirements may vary based on the hiring needs of the location.

This role requires the ability to use hands for communication, sit, reach, stand, or walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours). The employee must be capable of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently. Lifting and moving up to 40 pounds or more regularly is required. The employee must also be able to move quickly and withstand exposure to dust, chemicals, and extreme weather conditions.
Reporting StructureThis position reports to the Facilities Manager and Facilities Supervisors.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
