Medical Claims Specialist

Job Summary:
The Medical Claims Specialist plays a crucial role in managing non-complex and non-problematic medical only claims and minor lost-time workers' compensation claims under close supervision. This position is a hybrid role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process claims, confirming policy coverage and acknowledging receipt of the claim
- Determine the validity and compensability of the claim, establishing reserves and authorizing payments within established limits
- Communicate claim status with customers, claimants, and clients, adhering to client and carrier guidelines
- Participate in claims review and assist other claims professionals with more complex or problematic claims as needed
- Perform additional projects and duties as assigned, maintaining Idaho Resident Claims Adjuster's license
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 1 year industry experience and claim handling, with WC experience required
- Licensed as required by jurisdiction
