Billing and Collections Specialist

Position Summary:
The Billing and Collections Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the organization receives timely payments for the products and services provided to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage billing processes for all payers, including addressing and correcting claim rejections.
- Handle denials, aging reports, open orders, and conversion to purchase reports for all payers.
- Download and accurately post electronic payments.
- Engage with Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers to resolve inquiries and issues.
- Respond to inquiries from customers and staff.
- Assist in training new billing personnel.
- Conduct customer chart reviews and audits on a monthly basis.
- Process and post all payments from clients and insurance providers.
- Manage refunds for clients and insurance claims.
- Handle prior approval requests and notifications.
- Utilize the Brightree Collections Dashboard effectively.
- Contact patients regarding outstanding balances to arrange payments or payment plans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience is necessary.
- Knowledge of Medicare billing practices is advantageous.
- Experience with Brightree software is preferred.
- Ability to work for extended periods at a desk and on a computer.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other accounting software is required.
- Capability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and maintain professional interactions with clients.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial.
