Public Affairs Manager

The California State Controller's Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Services Manager III to join our team. As a key member of our Public Affairs Office, you will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations, scheduling work assignments, and reviewing for consistency and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate communication efforts with the State Controller's Office, under the direction of the Deputy Controller for Public Affairs.
- Develop and implement communications activities to enhance awareness and understanding of the State Controller's duties and services.
- Assist in identifying public policies that impact the State Controller's Office and coordinating responses to policies that encroach on the State Controller's authority.
- Collaborate with senior executive staff to develop internal communications and respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders.
- Develop and implement outreach and education programs and materials.
- Develop and implement an employee recognition program.
- Coordinate regularly scheduled meetings with the Controller and staff.
- Manage communications calendar.
- Provide supervision to subordinate staff members responsible for researching and writing internal communications.
- Represent the Controller at key public events or provide support when assigned.
- Travel to various locations when required.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Supervisory skills.
- Experience in internal communications.
- Strategic thinking.
- Knowledge of California State Government Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches.
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or Communications.
- Flexible and dependable.
