Job Summary:

Sunrise Systems is seeking an experienced Auto Claims Adjuster to join our team. As a Claims Adjuster, you will be responsible for handling and maintaining all Auto claims and file reviews under general supervision of a supervisor and as part of our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and settle claims promptly, equitably and within established best practices guidelines.
  • Receive assignments and review claim and policy information to provide background for investigation and determine the extent of the policy's obligation to the insured.
  • Contact, interview and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, physicians, attorneys, police officers, etc. to secure necessary claim information.
  • Evaluate facts supplied by investigation to determine extent of liability of the insured, if any, and extent of the company's obligation to the insured under the policy contract.
  • Prepare reports on investigation, settlements, denials of claims, individual evaluation of involved parties, etc.
  • Set reserves within authority limits and recommend reserve changes to Team Leader.
  • Review progress and status of claims with Team Leader and discuss problems and suggested remedial actions.
  • Prepare and submit to Team Leader unusual or possible undesirable exposures.
  • Assist Team Leader in developing methods and improvements for handling claims.
  • Settle claims promptly and equitably.
  • Obtain releases, proofs of loss or compensation agreements and issue company drafts in payments for claims.
  • Inform claimants, insureds/customers or attorney of denial of claim when applicable.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years claims handling experience in Auto line of business.
  • Experience within a TPA environment strongly preferred. Required to obtain specific state licenses.
  • Knowledge of coverages; along with a good understanding of applicable legal principles.
  • Knowledge of auto liability cost containment programs and proven account management skills a must.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of an organization both internal and external.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consistent superior service to customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred TX or FL license with preferred experience 1-3 years.
