Scope of Position

The Staff Radiation Therapist plays a vital role within the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical Center. The primary responsibility of the Staff Radiation Therapist is to execute radiation therapy and imaging procedures, utilizing X-rays and radioactive materials for patient simulation and treatment of malignancies and pain. This role is accountable for the precise delivery of prescribed radiation therapy courses to patients in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Additionally, the Staff Radiation Therapist engages in quality assessment activities, education, training, and supervision of radiation therapy students as directed by the Radiation Therapy Manager.

Position Summary

The Staff Radiation Therapist conducts radiation therapy and imaging procedures, assisting in treatment planning while adhering to the standards established by the Radiation Oncologist. Responsibilities include reinforcing medical advice, monitoring patients for any unusual reactions, ensuring radiation safety protocols for both patients and staff, and contributing to student education and supervision. Furthermore, the Staff Radiation Therapist provides patient education and actively participates in the Medical Center's educational and research initiatives through involvement in clinical education and projects, as well as performing quality assessment activities for the Department of Radiation Oncology.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: An Associate's Degree or equivalent education/experience. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy Technology. Licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Department of Health in Radiation Therapy. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Radiation Therapy.

Ongoing: Compliance with mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates proficiency in the technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills necessary to fulfill essential job functions. Maintains registration and licensure through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Ohio Department of Health.
