Scope of Position

The Staff Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role within the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical Center. The primary responsibility of the Staff Radiation Therapist is to execute radiation therapy and imaging procedures, utilizing X-rays and radioactive materials for patient simulation and treatment of malignancies and pain. This role is essential for the precise delivery of prescribed radiation therapy courses to patients.

Position Summary

The Staff Radiation Therapist is responsible for performing radiation therapy and imaging procedures, aiding in treatment planning, and adhering to standards established by the Radiation Oncologist. This position involves monitoring patients for any unusual reactions, ensuring radiation safety for both patients and staff, and contributing to the education and supervision of radiation therapy students. Additionally, the Staff Radiation Therapist engages in patient education and supports the Medical Center's educational and research initiatives through active participation in clinical education and projects.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: An associate degree or equivalent education/experience. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy Technology. Licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Department of Health in Radiation Therapy. A minimum of 2 years of experience in Radiation Therapy.

Ongoing: Compliance with mandatory education and health surveillance requirements. Demonstrated proficiency in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills necessary for essential job functions. Maintenance of registration and licensure through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Ohio Department of Health.
