Position Overview:

The Office of Internal Audit within the Department of Finance and Administration is seeking a dedicated and skilled AUDITOR 3. This role is pivotal in providing independent and objective assurance as well as consulting services aimed at enhancing the operations of Finance and Administration.

Impact of Your Role:

As an internal auditor, you will play a crucial role in fostering awareness of risk management and establishing a robust control environment across the department. The responsibilities of the Office of Internal Audit span all facets of the department, which includes vital functions that influence various state departments and agencies.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Designing and executing diverse financial, compliance, operational, and program audits, along with other consulting projects, adhering to the applicable IIA Red Book standards.
  2. Conducting thorough evaluations of risks, controls, policies, procedures, organizational structures, and management practices during audits.
  3. Utilizing analytical techniques with tools such as Excel and ACL to scrutinize large datasets for identifying significant transactions or anomalies.
  4. Creating well-organized workpaper files through Diligent HighBond electronic workpaper software, ensuring compliance with IIA standards and internal policies.
  5. Reviewing the work of fellow auditors to guarantee accuracy and completeness, and drafting reports that effectively communicate audit findings and recommendations.
  6. Assisting in the coordination and review of the annual departmental risk assessment in line with the Financial Integrity Act.
  7. Supporting or conducting internal fraud investigations as required.
  8. Contributing to the development of the annual internal audit plan.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. A minimum of three years of audit experience with progressive responsibilities is required, along with experience in supervising auditors in a lead capacity.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, is necessary for report preparation and data analysis.

Relevant professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CFE are preferred. Candidates should be well-organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and self-motivated, with the capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.

Access to a suitable workspace and reliable internet connectivity for remote work is required.
