Job Description

Community Memorial Health System is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EVS Housekeeper to join our team in a hospital setting. As a key member of our Environmental Services team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Select and prepare cleaning materials and supplies according to established procedures.
  • Clean assigned areas, including furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment, using germicidal cleaning solutions.
  • Strip and apply floor finish and polish floors to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
  • Operate various types of cleaning equipment, including buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Sweep and mop floor areas, vacuum carpets, and spot clean carpets using appropriate solutions.
  • Arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning assigned areas.
  • Return unused supplies to the janitor closet and clean carts and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Climb ladders to hang cubicle curtains, window drapes, or reach high areas for cleaning purposes.
  • Collect waste from all areas of the hospital and sanitize garbage cans.
  • Deliver clean linen to all areas of the hospital and work in the clean linen room as assigned.
  • Collect soiled linen from all areas of the hospital and transport it to the soiled linen room.
  • Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, and stairways in a neat, clean, and sanitary manner.
  • Clean Isolation rooms, both occupied and at patient transfer and/or discharge.
  • Clean Operating Suites and all rooms and corridors in the OR area.
  • Respond to spills, including blood, chemical, and other potentially hazardous liquids, using proper cleaning and control procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Follows infection control practices, including hand washing, standard precautions, and isolation precautions.
  • Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets as they relate to chemicals and their uses after annual training on MSDS sheets.
