Overview:
The Lead Accounting Specialist plays a vital role in achieving Langham Logistics' objectives of outstanding customer service, quality assurance, process enhancement, and profitability. This position is responsible for overseeing accounts receivable, ensuring adherence to established protocols, and managing daily financial transactions to guarantee timely and accurate payments for invoices and authorized purchase orders.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Lead Accounting Specialist will primarily support the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions within the organization as required.

This role encompasses a variety of tasks within the accounting team. While specific duties are assigned to individuals, daily responsibilities may be adjusted as directed by the Controller.

Key Performance Indicators:
- Assist in achieving objectives for accounts payable and receivable functions as necessary.
- Facilitate the 3-way matching process for outstanding statement invoices.
- Specialize in payment processing, including check requests, ACH, and wire transfers; ensure proper coding of accounts for payments; and monitor payment requests for appropriate approvals.

- Prepare and import general ledger entries as required.
- Support efforts to investigate billing discrepancies and work towards resolutions both internally and externally.
- Oversee and educate users on the Precoro PO and Concur expense reporting systems.
- Process D&B credit reports for submission to the Controller or Senior Accountant for evaluation.

- Assist with month-end and year-end closing and reporting by ensuring timely posting of all invoices.
- Collaborate with the team to develop innovative and improved processes for AP/AR tasks and activities.
- Support the review of outstanding vendor invoices, accrued accounts receivable, and other aging reports as necessary.

- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations as needed.
- Respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proven experience with financial operating systems, such as Great Plains or equivalent.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; capable of gathering and analyzing data to draw conclusions.

- Logical and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues with projects or processes.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and mathematical calculations.

Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience.
- Previous experience in the transportation sector is preferred.


Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work proficiently with computers and other office equipment. The position involves sitting at a workstation for the majority of the time, and work is conducted in an office environment.
