Job Summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Virtualization Engineer to support our client's VMware virtualization environment. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work arrangement, requiring two days per week on-site in Washington, D.C. Our client will also sponsor the successful candidate for a Public Trust clearance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, implement, and manage VMware virtualization environments, including vCenter Server, ESXi cluster servers, and virtual switching.
  • Setup and configure HA, vMotion, and DRS.
  • Monitor the health of VMs operating in various data centers.
  • Manage replications and VM movements between data centers.
  • Support VMware management tools, including Aria Operations and Log Insight.
  • Install, configure, and manage VDI solutions using VMware Horizon.
  • Provide support to system administrators to resolve VDI issues and virtual server problems.
  • Maintain and update environmental documentation, standard operating procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with lead engineers to identify, assess, and present solution options for meeting functional and technical requirements.
Requirements
  • Must have experience installing and configuring vCenter Server.
  • Must be able to work with ESXi cluster servers.
  • Must have experience monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers.
  • Experience with VMware Horizon View, vCenter, vSphere Client, and Web Client, and VMware Workstation.
  • Understanding of VMware's integration with complex storage technologies.
  • Experience managing VMware Horizon user profiles.
  • Extensive knowledge of multi-vendor server operating systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of enterprise Windows environment operations and maintenance (O&M) and engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Distributed File System and CIFS.
  • Experience with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced ITSM support environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • VMware certification VCP/VCAP and/or VDI Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware virtual environment and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience providing guidance on optimization of desktops for platform interoperability and acting as a liaison between Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies.
  • Experience with VMware 7 preferred, VMware 8 ideal.
  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructures (HCI), and additional Hypervisor and VDI technologies, especially Nutanix.
  • Experience with any other cloud environments, including AWS and/or Azure Certifications.
Scripting Experience and Infrastructure as Code
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell and VBScript.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code technologies, such as Terraform and Ansible.
Security and Compliance
  • DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark guidelines for Microsoft Windows servers.
