Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Fort Washington. As a member of our mechanical engineering team, you will be responsible for the research, design, development, documentation, and testing of mechanical and electrical subsystems and robotic automation manufacturing equipment for the semiconductor industry.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop high-speed, precision motion systems controllers for semiconductor fabrication equipment.
  • Collaborate with electrical, process, and manufacturing engineering teams to define motion performance requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct hands-on testing and MATLAB simulation to assess filter and gain designs and robustness.
  • Develop product validation plans, including required testing through experimental setups.
  • Support the initial startup of prototype motion systems and conduct prototype testing, data collection, processing, analysis, and documentation.
  • Develop manufacturing test methods and documentation.
  • Provide technical support to field engineers and customers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 2+ years of hands-on engineering development experience with electromechanical systems.
  • Intermediate-level MATLAB programming skills, with emphasis on data analysis.
  • Basic controls knowledge, including PID controllers, bandwidth, phase, and gain margin.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and efficient organization.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, domestically and internationally.
Helpful Skills and Experience:
  • Simulink/block diagrams.
  • Analog and digital controls.
  • Digital signal processing and frequency domain analysis.
  • Familiarity with classical and robust controls methodologies.
  • Robotics and electronics.
  • Test methods: accelerometer testing, modal analysis, bode collection, motion performance.
  • Test equipment: oscilloscopes, laser vibrometer, accelerometer, current probes, load cells, etc.
  • Additional programming experience: Assembly, C, C++, and git for revision control.
  • Motor and encoder selection for high-speed motion performance, precision, robustness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with vibration damping methods.
  • Good intuitive understanding of dynamics.
  • Research of new technologies and methods through academic literature.
