Summary


The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for executing various dining service tasks, ensuring that dining areas, facilities, and equipment are kept clean, sanitary, and organized. This role may also involve assisting with certain food preparation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts defined work routines utilizing various dining service tools, supplies, and equipment as assigned.
  • Supports all facets of dining service setup in dining areas and at catered functions, including the preparation of beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items as directed and according to recipes; Ensures all meals are served at appropriate temperatures and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the arrangement of dining rooms, including setting tables, replenishing buffets, and serving residents.
  • Participates in all aspects of cleanup to maintain dining service areas in accordance with established policies and standards by completing daily cleaning tasks, clearing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, disposing of trash, and properly stocking and storing items.
  • Helps in receiving and organizing food and supplies.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and procedures as mandated by LSS policy, federal and state regulations, and standard food handling practices, reporting any hazardous conditions, defective equipment, or incidents to the supervisor without delay.
  • Keeps all necessary documentation, including checking and recording food temperatures in HACCP logs, tracking product usage and waste, and documenting any other required information.
  • Follows infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, food storage, disposal methods, and wearing protective clothing and equipment when handling waste and cleaning agents.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

To successfully perform this role, an individual must be capable of executing each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Prior experience in dining service is preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipe instructions, dietary orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
  • Willingness to engage in routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Must exhibit patience and tolerance with staff, residents, and family members.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County, in accordance with County health regulations.

The Culinary Service Associate is required to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday, as well as reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and manipulate various food products, dietary supplies, and equipment.

This role requires the ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents and to tolerate exposure to temperature and humidity changes, such as entering refrigerated storage areas and working at ovens, ranges, dishwashing machines, and steam tables.

This employee must be free from infections or diseases.
