POSITION OVERVIEW:

The primary responsibility of the Culinary Specialist for Banquets is to support the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals within the banquet facilities. This role involves preparing dishes for various banquet sizes at the White River Conference Center, which is part of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. Scheduling for this position will be flexible based on operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and assists in food production, ensuring quality and consistency throughout preparation and service.
  • Delivers outstanding guest service through meticulous execution and presentation of food and beverages.
  • Monitors guest consumption and adjusts service as necessary.
  • Contributes to daily kitchen operations, ensuring readiness for service.
  • Collaborates with the Banquet Chef to assist in menu development as required.
  • Ensures adherence to recipes and monitors all food production processes.
  • Strives to enhance the cooking process with a focus on efficiency and quality.
  • Maintains adequate supplies at all cooking stations.
  • Ensures all kitchen equipment is functioning properly.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with Front of House management and staff.
  • Participates in pre-shift meetings with service and kitchen teams to communicate menu updates and operational challenges.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of culinary experience.
  • Strong background in cooking, particularly in high-volume settings.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with hardware and software.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of bending, lifting, and carrying heavy items.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimal travel, approximately 5% or less.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regular activities include walking, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and working with hands.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:

  • Operates under general supervision, utilizing established procedures and creativity. Makes decisions from limited options to address issues and frequently recommends improvements to work processes and practices.
