De Soto Kansas, United States Panasonic Corporation of North America Full time

Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Trainee, you will be integral to our operational success.

Your role encompasses the effective management of both mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities within a manufacturing environment.

This includes the installation of machinery, troubleshooting, and the routine maintenance of equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Introduction:

We are excited to announce the launch of a cutting-edge battery production facility, located in a vibrant metropolitan area.

This innovative factory will act as a central hub for advancements in sustainable energy technologies.

If you are eager to contribute to a greener future and be part of a team that is driving the electric vehicle industry forward, this position is ideal for you.

We are looking for committed individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, advanced facility.

In this position, the Mechanical Maintenance Trainee will learn to maintain production machinery and equipment in optimal working condition through preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repair tasks.

This role will involve exposure to various improvement initiatives. Collaborate with the Operations team to promote a Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) culture and machine ownership. Additionally, the Trainee will perform routine maintenance on all machines to avert mechanical failures.

Work Schedule:

The training program includes classroom instruction two days a week, with the remaining days dedicated to hands-on training, scheduled by the company.

Essential Duties:

Collaborate closely with Program Facilitators, dedicated Trainers, Mentors, and the Maintenance and Operations teams to ensure the upkeep of assigned equipment.

Complete the program through a combination of on-the-job training, learning experiences, and technical college education. Develop proficiency in using various hand tools, including lathes and drill presses.

Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts.

Regularly check settings, gauge readings, Human Machine Interface (HMI), and sensors to ensure machines operate within specifications.

Conduct routine preventative maintenance on machinery as per documented requirements, including cleaning and lubricating components.

Execute thorough cleaning tasks on disassembled equipment and reassemble according to OEM standards.

Perform electrical or mechanical diagnostics to identify issues in malfunctioning equipment.

Propose, develop, and implement modifications to machinery and processes to enhance efficiency.

Keep precise records of maintenance activities, including After Action Reviews (AAR).

Conduct initial multimeter assessments, perform insulation tests on motors, and interpret PLC Ladder logic.

Adhere to all safety protocols and comply with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.

As trainees, you will be expected to demonstrate a range of behavioral competencies, many of which are essential employability skills.

These competencies should be addressed in both technical instruction and through on-the-job training with the guidance of your supervisor and mentor.

Key competencies include:

Alignment with the company's core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, teamwork, continuous improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)

Technical Skills – ability to repair and maintain equipment. Familiarity with various machinery and the tools necessary for maintenance.

Critical thinking skills are essential – making prompt decisions and solving problems efficiently is crucial.

While some repairs may be complex, mastering diagnostic skills and being prepared to think creatively is vital.

Attention to detail is paramount in technical roles, requiring precision and minimal margin for error.

Maintenance tasks are often fast-paced, necessitating a keen troubleshooter to resolve issues swiftly.

Administrative; Organizational skills; Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Completion Requirements:

The apprenticeship program is strictly competency-based, requiring a minimum of 12 months (2000 hours). Trainees must demonstrate mastery of all competencies within a maximum period of 2 years (4000 hours), alongside 780 hours of recommended related instruction.

Throughout the apprenticeship, there will be periodic evaluations to assess performance, knowledge, skills, and experience.

These evaluations will focus on both classroom learning and practical application.

These sessions aim to ensure adherence to the program's structured timeline and objectives, which are essential for successful completion.
