Position Overview: Zurich Insurance Company Ltd is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Loss Sensitive Casualty Underwriter to enhance our Middle Market Complex Casualty Underwriting team. This role is pivotal in managing relationships with brokers and clients, particularly in the Midwest region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the generation, underwriting, and analysis of domestic Complex and Loss Sensitive Casualty business.
- Participate in market-facing and production activities to drive business growth.
- Adhere to underwriting rules, insurance regulations, and rating manual guidelines.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with agencies and brokers.
- Handle complex assignments within broad limits and authorities.
Qualifications:
For Senior Underwriter Level:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years in Underwriting, Brokerage, or Market Facing roles.
- Alternatively, a Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working under time constraints.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
For AVP Underwriter Level:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in Underwriting, Brokerage, or Market Facing roles.
- Alternatively, a Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and significant experience in Claims or Underwriting Support.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- In-depth knowledge of Domestic Complex Casualty Products.
- Strong risk assessment and negotiation skills.
- Established broker relationships within the Midwest.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Excellent communication abilities, both oral and written.
- Comprehensive understanding of underwriting philosophies and regulations.
