Automotive Body Repair Specialist

The Automotive Body Repair Specialist is responsible for the restoration and painting of vehicles according to Repair Orders. Adherence to all safety regulations and procedures is mandatory, including the proper use of personal protective equipment when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough disassembly of the vehicle involved in the incident to assess parts that need replacement, labor, and all necessary repairs.
- Mark all damaged components with a yellow marker. Ensure that parts are organized and photographed by the Service Advisor to identify all items requiring replacement. Damaged parts should be stored appropriately at the bottom of the parts rack. Additional parts must be entered into the Management System prior to ordering. The technician will communicate the needed parts to the advisor, who will update the estimate and forward it to the Repair Center for the Parts Manager to order the necessary items. If the vehicle disassembly does not meet the Service Advisor's standards, further parts may need to be removed to create an accurate estimate.
- Attach the windshield tag and clip list to the designated area of the rack to indicate vehicle ownership. The clip list must detail any clips, rivets, retainers, nuts, and bolts required, with samples affixed to the documentation. The parts rack should be organized in the technician's assigned space.
- Review damages and repair plans with the Service Advisor before commencing any work on the vehicle to avoid unnecessary additional costs.
- Respond promptly to calls from the Parts Manager when sheet metal components arrive to verify that they are undamaged.
- Perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Any deviations must receive prior approval from the General Manager. For any inquiries regarding repair procedures, consult the Service Advisor or, if unavailable, the General Manager. Technicians must adhere to the work orders provided for each Repair Order, unless repair methods change during the process and receive approval from the General Manager. Unperformed work will be flagged for compliance reasons.
- Print repair procedures for any significant panel replacements. Off-brand vehicle repair guidelines and measurements will be supplied by the General Manager when applicable.
- Ensure that all welding and bodywork meet Collision Center standards before transferring the vehicle to the painting department. Utilize the Work Order as a checklist to confirm that each task has been completed. Prior to reassembly, inspect the vehicle for any paint imperfections.
- Before sending the vehicle for painting, confirm that all parts necessary for reassembly are available. When performing suspension work or any task requiring torqued bolts, mark them to indicate they have been tightened to manufacturer specifications. Assemble the vehicle and conduct quality checks before moving it to the polishing and quality control department. Verify that all lights are functional before the vehicle departs the technician's area.
- Return any unused parts from the vehicle repair to the Parts Manager immediately after assembly to ensure accurate pre-closure for compliance.
- Once the vehicle is completed, relocate the parts rack to the designated storage area behind the parts department. Ensure that every part remains with its respective cart, and parts not belonging to the designated rack should not be placed there.
- Check in and out any jigs from the Parts Manager, ensuring they are used for the current job and returned promptly upon completion.
- Maintain all company equipment in good condition. Report any issues with company tools to the Manager.
- Keep your workspace and the shop clean and organized at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Employees can enroll in the company's 401k plan after one year of service. Employees will accrue one hour of personal time off for every 30 hours worked.
Pay: $32-$34/hr
Previous body shop experience is required.
