Job Title: Career Advisor

Families Forward, a member of The Fedcap Group, is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven individual to fill the role of Career Advisor. This position is an integral part of our workforce development program model at our Augusta, Maine opportunity center location.

Job Summary:

The Career Advisor will provide employment-focused case management services to individuals receiving TANF benefits, helping them address barriers and achieve their employment goals. This role involves working with a diverse caseload, including individuals who are job-ready and those with medical barriers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish trust and rapport with program participants
  • Conduct comprehensive intakes to understand participants' needs, strengths, interests, and capabilities
  • Develop and implement service plans, including Family Contract Amendments (FCAs), to support participants' employment goals
  • Meet regularly with participants to document progress, provide ongoing orientation, and ensure they understand their TANF and program requirements
  • Build effective partnerships with external providers to ensure participants have access to necessary services and supports
  • Maintain accurate records and documents all communication and contact with participants and external partners
  • Request necessary support services, such as childcare and transportation, to assist participants in achieving their goals
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher education and/or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated track record of providing exceptional customer service
  • Valid driver's license required
Work Environment:

This role operates in a professional office environment, requiring the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this job include regular talking and hearing, frequent standing and walking, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
